Pseudotrametes gibbosa

This fungus is more common on dead stumps rather than live trees, and has become known as the stump grinder.
I have seen it on beech, oak and willow stumps. A distinct feature of this fungi is the bright green algae often found on top of the brackets.
As Pseudotrametes is mostly found on dead stumps, it is not associated with tree failure.
