Witches Broom on Hornbeam

Withches Broom is a common disorder that often affects birch (Betula pendula) and, as in this case, Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus). It causes a dense bundle of twigs in the branches that are infected.
Witches Broom is caused by the fungus Tephrina carpini. It is not serious, just disfiguring.
