Habitat Management is all about providing suitable environments for wildlife. This may be mammals, insects, beetles, birds, fungi and plants.
Old woodland management practices involved removing the 'mess' from the woods- dead trees, fallen branches and deadwood. It should be noted that this was mostly to provide firewood.
Many endangered species require these forms of habitat to survive- bats live in hollows and loose bark, fungi break down deadwood and stag beetles live in dead trunks.
