This large silver lime (Tilia tomentosa) failed in strong winds. The tree was 25m tall with a girth of 1.4m. It has failed at the main fork.
On inspection, the tree was found to be extensively hollowed.
Notice the degraded wood, with a thin layer of sound wood on the outside.
